January 25, 2026. Almaty. Upon the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy at the Ascension Cathedral, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan congratulated the spiritual father of the Almaty Diocese, Archimandrite Ioann (Sazonov), on the 40th anniversary of his priestly ordination.
The Head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan presented Father Ioann with the Order of the Metropolitan District of Kazakhstan “Hieroconfessor Nicholas, Metropolitan of Almaty.”
While bestowing the high ecclesiastical award, His Eminence, in particular, stated:
“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to you on this remarkable occasion – the 40th anniversary of your priestly ordination!
Your entire life is dedicated to the service of the Great and Wondrous God, Who guides and raises to the heavens all who love Him.
Serving as a pastor upon the blessed land of Semirechye, you instill in people a love for the moral ideals of the Gospel and call Christians to follow the Divine law.
In all circumstances of life, you strive to remain faithful to your priestly vow and pastoral duty.
On this day of your special spiritual celebration, I prayerfully wish you peace, good health, and longevity.”
His Eminence Metropolitan also presented to the spiritual father of the Almaty Diocese a holy prosphora and a bouquet of flowers.
