January 28, 2025 – Almaty. In the St. Alexander Nevsky Chapel of the Spiritual and Cultural Center of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District named after Metropolitan Joseph (Chernov), Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan offered a litiya for the ever-memorable Archbishop Serapion (Kolosnitsyn).
Archbishop Serapion, who led the Kokshetau and Akmola Diocese since 2013, reposed in the Lord during the night of January 27–28, 2025.
Taking part in the memorial service were: the vicars of the Astana Diocese, Bishop Klavdian of Taldykorgan and Bishop Veniamin of Talgar; Secretary of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District, member of the Patriarchal Council for the Development of Church Singing, Honored Artist of Russia O. N. Ovchinnikov; Dean of the Zharkent Church District Priest Dimitry Kaplin; Head of the Personal Secretariat of the Metropolitan Hieromonk Prokhor (Endovitsky); Head of the Administrative Secretariat of the Head of the Metropolitan District Priest Georgy Sidorov; Deputy Head of the Information and Publishing Department of the Metropolitan District Priest Kirill Konoplev; staff member of the Information and Publishing Department Priest Vladislav Pashkov; Head of the Metropolitan’s Protocol Service Protodeacon Roman Golovin; cleric of the Ascension Cathedral Hierodeacon Sofony (Mazurenko); and staff of the Almaty Diocesan Administration.
The male choir of the Almaty Diocese sang at the service.
Metropolitan Alexander addressed the gathered clergy and faithful with a word of remembrance, expressing gratitude for the labors of the ever-memorable archpastor.
At the conclusion of the litiya, the clergy and faithful chanted “Memory Eternal.”
