February 17, 2026. A celebration in honor of the Holy Martyr Agatha of Panormos and Sicily – heavenly intercessor against natural disasters – will be held in Almaty.

This saint of God, who suffered for Christ in the third century, has a special grace to deliver those who invoke her holy name in prayer from earthquakes, mudflows, volcanic eruptions, fires, floods, and other calamities.

The festive Divine Liturgy in the St. Sophia Cathedral of the Iveron–Seraphim Monastery, where a reliquary containing the relics of the Martyr Agatha is kept, will be celebrated by the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, concelebrating with hierarchs of Kazakhstan and the city clergy.

During the service, special prayers will be offered for the protection of the Southern capital and all Kazakhstan from earthquakes and other natural disasters.

The Divine Liturgy begins at 8:30 a.m.

Address: 30 Latifa Khamidi Street, corner of Zhangeldin Street and Ashimbaev Street.
