18 March 2026 – Wednesday of the 4th week of Great Lent; the day of commemoration of the Martyr Conon of Isauria; the uncovering of the relics of Saint Luke, Archbishop of Simferopol and Crimea, the physician.
With the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, the vicar of the Astana diocese, Bishop Veniamin of Talgar, celebrated the night Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts at St Nicholas Cathedral in the city of Alma-Ata.
Concelebrating with the archpastor were: Dean of the parishes of the Southern capital, rector of St Nicholas Cathedral Archpriest Valery Zakharov; Hegumen Onisim (Tulnikov); cleric of the Sophia Cathedral of the Iversky-Seraphim convent Hieromonk Dimitry (Baidek); cleric of St Nicholas Cathedral Priest Oleg Nasymov; Head of the administrative secretariat of the Head of the Metropolitan District Priest Georgy Sidorov; Hieromonk Paisiy (Tishakov); cleric of the church in honor of the Holy Royal Passion-Bearers in the settlement of Karabulak of the Alma-Ata region – the metochion of the Iversky-Seraphim monastery Hieromonk Meletiy (Chernov); Protodeacon Sergiy Kulikov; Deacon Alexiy Kanushin; Deacon Ioann Churkin; Deacon Alexander Voronin.
For the prayerful veneration and spiritual strengthening of the faithful, a reliquary containing the relics of Saint Luke of Crimea was present in the church.
Praying at the Liturgy were: the president of the public foundation «Eleos-Meirim» V.M. Kapsamun, staff of the Alma-Ata diocesan administration, and parishioners of the churches of the Southern capital.
The service was sung by the male choir of the Alma-Ata diocese under the direction of Deacon Alexander Piven.
After the prayer behind the ambo, veneration of the Cross of Christ and a glorification of the holy confessor and healer Luke of Crimea took place.
At the conclusion of the Liturgy, Bishop Veniamin thanked the clergy, monastics and laity for the joy of common prayer at the holy altar and addressed those gathered with a word of instruction.
With the support of the «Eleos-Meirim» foundation, a live broadcast of the service was held on the YouTube channel «Proobraz».
