Primatial Visit of the Head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan to the Ural Diocese Begins

April 24, 2026. Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan has arrived on an archpastoral visit to the Ural Diocese of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District.

Accompanying the Head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan on the trip are: Bishop Klavdian of Taldykorgan, vicar of the Astana Diocese; Archpriest Evgeny Vorobyev, rector of the Almaty Church in honor of the Icon of the Mother of God “Joy of All Who Sorrow”; Priest Georgy Sidorov, head of the administrative secretariat of the Head of the Metropolitan District; Protodeacon Roman Golovin, head of the Metropolitan’s protocol service; Protodeacon Vladimir Syrovatsky; Protodeacon Alexander Mokiy; and Deacon Georgy Tkachenko.

As part of the visit, on April 25, the day of commemoration of Venerable Basil the Confessor, Bishop of Parium, the Metropolitan will celebrate the Divine Liturgy at the Intercession Convent of the city of Uralsk. The service will begin at 8:30.

On April 26, the Third Sunday after Pascha, the commemoration of the Holy Myrrh-Bearing Women, the hierarch will preside over the celebration of the Divine Liturgy at the Archangel Michael Cathedral of the capital of Western Kazakhstan. The service will begin at 8:30.

The program of the archpastoral visit includes working meetings on diocesan matters, communication with the clergy, and meetings with representatives of the local diplomatic corps and members of public organizations.
