April 25, 2026. Uralsk. Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan served a memorial litia at the place of repose of Archbishop Anthony (Moskalenko) of blessed memory, who governed the Ural Diocese for more than thirty years.
On Thursday of the second week after Pascha, April 23, one year had passed since the repose in the Lord of the senior hierarch of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan.
The hierarch is buried near the altar of the Transfiguration Church in the city of Uralsk.
Praying at the service were: Archbishop Amfilokhiy of Ust-Kamenogorsk and Semipalatinsk; Bishop Ignatiy of Aktobe and Kyzylorda; Bishop Klavdian of Taldykorgan, vicar of the Astana Diocese; Bishop Vianor of Uralsk and Atyrau; Archpriest Evgeny Vorobyev, rector of the Almaty Church in honor of the Icon of the Mother of God “Joy of All Who Sorrow”; Archimandrite Theodosiy (Kuryanov), rector of the Archangel Michael Cathedral of Uralsk; clergy of the Almaty and Ural dioceses; O.N. Ovchinnikov, Secretary of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District and Honored Artist of the Russian Federation; Abbess Varvara (Morozova), superior of the Intercession Convent, with the sisters of the monastery; V.M. Kapsamun, President of the public foundation “Eleos-Meirim”; and A.V. Gruby, Consul General of Russia in Uralsk.
Employees of the diocesan administration and faithful gathered to honor the memory of the archpastor.
Flowers were laid at the grave of the departed Archbishop Anthony (Moskalenko) by the participants of the common memorial prayer.
After the litia, the Head of the Metropolitan District and the hierarchs venerated the holy objects of the Transfiguration Church and served a glorification of the Bright Resurrection of Christ.
