His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’ Awards Mitred Archpriest Evgeny Vorobyov the Order of Saint Sergius of Radonezh

May 22, 2026. Alma-Ata. Following the Divine Liturgy at St. Nicholas Cathedral, which celebrated its patronal feast, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan congratulated Archpriest Evgeny Vorobyov, rector of the Church of the Icon of the Mother of God “Joy of All Who Sorrow” in Alma-Ata, on the 40th anniversary of his priestly ordination.

The Head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan presented Father Evgeny with the Order of Saint Sergius of Radonezh, Second Class. His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’ bestowed the high distinction in recognition of many years of labor for the benefit of the Holy Church and in connection with the 40th anniversary of service in the priesthood.

While presenting the high Patriarchal award, His Eminence, in particular, noted:

“Over the past years, you have done much for the revival of church life in the Southern Capital. As rector of one of the oldest churches in Alma-Ata – the Church of the Icon of the Most Holy Mother of God ‘Joy of All Who Sorrow’ – you care for the organization of parish life, strive to set an example of faithfulness to your calling, fidelity to pastoral duty, and a responsible attitude toward every obedience entrusted to you by church authority. Through your many years of labor in Christ’s vineyard, you have earned the well-deserved respect of both clergy and flock.”

The Head of the Metropolitan District wished Archpriest Evgeny health, long life, and God’s help in the continuation of his pastoral labors for the benefit of the Holy Church in the Southern Capital of Kazakhstan.

Father Evgeny warmly thanked Metropolitan Alexander for presenting the order and asked that words of profound gratitude be conveyed to His Holiness Patriarch Kirill for the high award.
