Metropolitan Alexander Visits Holy Trinity Church in the Village of Medyany

June 6, 2026, on the feast of the appearance of the Velikoretsk Icon of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, Archbishop of Myra in Lycia, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, Head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan, visited the Church of the Life-Giving Trinity in the village of Medyany, Yuryansky District of the Kirov Region, following the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy at the Velikaya River.

In 2025, Holy Trinity Church marked the 255th anniversary of its founding. The church, desecrated during the years of persecution against Orthodoxy, miraculously survived, and restoration efforts began in 1991. Throughout its history, it has endured a difficult судьба, connected with the names of the New Martyrs and the history of the Velikoretsk Cross Procession.

Accompanying Metropolitan Alexander on the pilgrimage are: O.N. Ovchinnikov, Secretary of the Metropolitan District, Honored Worker of Kazakhstan and Russia, and member of the Patriarchal Council for the Development of Russian Church Singing; and assistants to the Metropolitan, P.V. Sokolov and I.Ye. Yatsenko.

At the church, the hierarch was welcomed by the rector, Archpriest Andrei Dudin, head of the Church Historical Center of the Vyatka Diocese, director of the Vyatka diocesan archive, regional historian, and scholar.

Fr. Andrei informed Vladyka Metropolitan about the life of the parish and the large-scale restoration and renovation works being carried out at the church.

The archpastor performed a glorification (slavlenie) to the Life-Giving Trinity and St. Nicholas, after which he addressed the parishioners with words of greeting.

As a gift to Holy Trinity Church, the Head of the Metropolitan District presented an icon of the Prophet Elijah.
