On the Lord’s Day, the Administrator of the Metropolitan District Celebrates the Divine Liturgy at the Principal Church of the Southern Capital

July 26, 2026 – on the Sunday of the Holy Fathers of the First Six Ecumenical Councils and the feast of the Synaxis of the Archangel Gabriel, with the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, Bishop Gennady of Kaskelen, Administrator of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District, celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Ascension Cathedral in Alma-Ata.

Concelebrating with the bishop were: Archpriest Alexander Iyevlev; Hieromonk Roman (Chistyakov); Protodeacon Nikolay Grinkevich; Deacon Anatoly Ledenev; Deacon Andrey Pleten; Hierodeacon Sophrony (Mazurenko); Deacon Daniel Pasyuk; and Deacon Joseph Lopatin.

The liturgical hymns were performed by the men’s choir of the principal church of the Southern Capital under the direction of Hegumen Philip (Moiseyev), together with the small choir directed by E. Boguslavets.

Praying at the service were members of the Alma-Ata Diocesan Administration, pupils of the parish Sunday school, and parishioners of the cathedral.

At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, Bishop Gennady congratulated the clergy and faithful on the Lord’s Day and delivered a sermon.
