Relics of St. Spyridon of Trimythous Brought to the Uralsk Diocese

September 23, 2026. Uralsk. The incorrupt relics of St. Spyridon of Trimythous, which are visiting Kazakhstan with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’ and with the gracious consent of Metropolitan Nektarios of Corfu, Paxos and the Diapontian Islands, have been brought to the Uralsk Diocese.

The bringing of the holy relic was organized by the Eleos-Meirim Public Foundation (President – V.M. Kapsamun).

The aircraft carrying the holy relic, accompanied by Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, priests of the Metropolis of Corfu of the Church of Greece and clergy from the churches of Alma-Ata, landed at Uralsk Airport in the morning.

The reliquary containing the right hand of the Bishop of Trimythous was welcomed by the diocesan clergy headed by Bishop Vianor of Uralsk and Atyrau.

The holy relic was then brought to the Cathedral of the Archangel Michael, where numerous faithful – residents of Uralsk, nearby towns and surrounding communities – had gathered.

To the ringing of bells and the singing of the troparion and magnification to St. Spyridon, the reliquary containing the holy relics was carried into the principal church of the Uralsk Diocese and placed at a specially prepared location in the center of the cathedral.

The hierarchs and clergy offered a brief service of glorification to the Wonderworker of Trimythous, after which the festal Divine Liturgy began, celebrated by Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan.

According to the official schedule, the incorrupt right hand of St. Spyridon of Trimythous will remain in Uralsk from September 23 through September 24, until 1:00 PM.
