On August 6, 2024, the commemoration day of Saint George (Konissky), Archbishop of Mogilev, spiritual celebrations took place at the Transfiguration Cathedral in Mogilev, Belarus.
The festive Divine Liturgy was led by the Head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, the Head of the Central Asian Metropolitan District, Metropolitan Vincent of Tashkent and Uzbekistan, and the Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus, Metropolitan Benjamin of Minsk and Zaslavl.
Concelebrating with the archpastors were: Archbishop Sophrony of Mogilev and Mstislavl, Archbishop John of Brest and Kobrin, Archbishop Stephen of Gomel and Zhlobin, Archbishop Amphilochius of Ust-Kamenogorsk and Semipalatinsk, Archbishop Anthony of Grodno and Volkovysk, Bishop Seraphim of Bobruisk and Bykhov, Bishop Leonid of Turov and Mozyr, Bishop Ignatius of Polotsk and Glubokoye, Bishop Ambrose of Borisov and Maryina Horka, Bishop Eusebius of Drutsk, Vicar of the Vitebsk Diocese, and Bishop Auxentius of Nesvizh, Vicar of the Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus.
During the Liturgy, they were joined by Protopriest Andrey Volkov, responsible secretary of the Belarusian Orthodox Church's Chancellery, the clergy of the Mogilev Diocese, and invited guests in holy orders.
The deacons were led by Protodeacon Vladimir Nazarov.
The liturgical hymns were performed by the choir under the direction of Svetlana Mikhailova.
Praying during the service were staff members of the departments and commissions of the Metropolitan District of Kazakhstan, led by O.N. Ovchinnikov, Honored Artist of Russia.
Present in the church were Alexander Viktorovich Studnev, Chairman of the Mogilev City Executive Committee, and Maksim Nikolayevich Gurin, Chairman of the Mogilev City Council of Deputies.
The sermon before Communion was delivered by Priest Nikolai Antonov.
After the dismissal of the Liturgy, the archpastors and clergy performed a glorification to Saint George.
A "Many Years" was chanted for the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, and all the participants of the celebration. Metropolitan Alexander, Metropolitan Vincent, and Metropolitan Benjamin blessed the faithful with the cross.
At the conclusion of the service, the Patriarchal Exarch thanked the heads of the Metropolitan Districts of Kazakhstan and Central Asia for their visit and joint prayers, and congratulated everyone on the celebrations in honor of Saint George Konissky, the enlightener of the Mogilev region and all of Belarus.
Archbishop Sophrony of Mogilev and Mstislavl, Metropolitan Vincent of Tashkent and Uzbekistan, and Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan addressed the congregation with greetings.
For his efforts in developing relations between the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan and the Belarusian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Benjamin was awarded the Order of "Peace and Harmony" (Beybitshilik pen Kelisim).
On the same day, the archpastors performed a moleben at the monument to Saint George, Archbishop of Mogilev, located at the observation deck near the "Podnikolie" city park.
Praying during the service were representatives of the state authorities of the Republic of Belarus, parishioners of the city churches, and pilgrims from nearby settlements.
At the conclusion of the moleben, the participants laid flowers at the monument in honor of the heavenly patron of the country.
