October 8, 2024. Uralsk. The relics of Blessed Matrona of Moscow, visiting the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District by the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, have arrived in the capital of Western Kazakhstan.
The holy relics were brought by Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, accompanied by Bishop Klavdian of Taldykorgan, Vicar of the Astana Diocese, and clergy from Almaty.
The transportation of the relics is supported by the public foundation “Apostle,” led by President G.G. Sosnovsky.
This visit is timed to coincide with significant historical anniversaries – the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Astana and Almaty Diocese and the forthcoming 15th anniversary of the confirmation of the canonical status of the Metropolitan District.
From the Uralsk International Airport, the precious relics of Blessed Matrona were taken to the “Golden Church” – the Church of Christ the Savior, where archpastors of the Metropolitan District, clergy, and faithful, led by the Head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan, gathered to welcome the revered holy relics.
As the troparion to the righteous saint, “Blessed Matrona, enlightened by God,” was sung, the reliquary with her holy relics was brought into the church and placed on the central lectern, after which the Divine Liturgy, led by Metropolitan Alexander, began.
The holy relics will remain in Uralsk on October 8th and 9th.
