The Stay of the Relics of Blessed Matrona of Moscow in the Urals Diocese Has Concluded, with More than 10,000 People Venerating the Holy Relic
October 9, 2024. The stay of the relics of Blessed Matrona of Moscow in the Urals Diocese has come to an end.

From September 28 to November 10, 2024, with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, the great relics — the holy relics and a portion of the vestment of Blessed Matrona of Moscow, revered by millions of Orthodox faithful around the world — are visiting the boundaries of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District.

On October 8, the feast day of Saint Sergius of Radonezh, the relics were housed in the “Golden Church” of the city of Uralsk, the Church of Christ the Savior, where the head of the Metropolitan District, alongside the diocesan clergy, celebrated the Divine Liturgy.

On October 9, the relics of Blessed Matrona were transferred to the Archangel Michael Cathedral, where the Liturgy was presided over by Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan.

The bringing of this revered Orthodox relic to the Urals Diocese was a spiritual gift to the faithful, marking the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Astana and Almaty dioceses, and the upcoming 15th anniversary of the canonical establishment of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District.

In response to a petition from Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill gave his blessing for the relics of Blessed Matrona to be brought to diocesan centers for prayerful veneration and spiritual strengthening of the faithful in Kazakhstan. The holy relics are accompanied on this pilgrimage by Metropolitan Alexander, other Kazakh hierarchs, and clergy.

Support for this event has been provided by the public foundation “Apostle” (President – G.G. Sosnovsky).

More than 10,000 people have venerated the relics of this beloved saint.
