From October 12 to 14, 2024, the Head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, will visit the Kostanay Diocese of the Metropolitan District.
Since August 25, 2020, by the decision of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Alexander has been temporarily overseeing the administration of the Kostanay Diocese.
For prayerful veneration and spiritual strengthening of the region’s residents, the archpastor will bring the relics of Blessed Matrona of Moscow to the diocesan centers—Kostanay and Rudny. This highly revered relic, venerated by millions of believers, is visiting Kazakhstan by the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.
The program of the archpastoral visit includes working meetings on diocesan activities, discussions with clergy, and meetings with the Akim (governor) of Kostanay Region, regional government leaders, and representatives of public organizations.
October 12, Saturday: Reception of the relics of Blessed Matrona of Moscow at the Constantine and Helen Cathedral in Kostanay, followed by the Vigil service. Start time: 17:00 (Address: 206 Altynsarina Street).
October 13, Sunday: Divine Liturgy at the Constantine and Helen Cathedral in Kostanay. Start time: 8:30.
October 14, Feast of the Protection of the Theotokos: The relics of Blessed Matrona will be brought to the city of Rudny. Divine Liturgy at the St. John the Theologian Cathedral (Address: 55 Parkovaya Street). Start time: 8:30.
