The Stay of the Reliquary with the Relics of Blessed Matrona of Moscow in the Kostanay Diocese Concludes. More Than 13,000 People Venerated the Holy Relic

October 15, 2024. The stay of the relics of Blessed Matrona of Moscow in the Kostanay Diocese has concluded.

From September 28 to November 10, 2024, with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, the great holy relic—the relics and a piece of the robe of Blessed Matrona of Moscow, venerated by millions of Orthodox believers worldwide—has been visiting the territory of the Kazakhstan Metropolis.

On October 12, the holy relic was brought to the Constantine and Helen Cathedral, where Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, together with the diocesan clergy, performed the All-Night Vigil.

The following day, the Head of the Metropolis presided over the Divine Liturgy in the main church of the Kostanay Diocese.

On October 14, the Feast of the Intercession of our Most Holy Lady Theotokos and Ever-Virgin Mary, the relics of Blessed Matrona of Moscow were taken to the John the Theologian Cathedral in the city of Rudny.

The bringing of this revered holy relic of Orthodoxy to the Kostanay Diocese was a spiritual gift to the faithful on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Astana and Almaty Dioceses and the upcoming 15th anniversary of the canonical status establishment of the Kazakhstan Metropolis.

In response to the petition of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, His Holiness granted his Primate’s blessing for the relics of Blessed Matrona to be brought to the diocesan centers for prayerful veneration and the spiritual strengthening of the faithful in Kazakhstan. The holy relic is accompanied on this pilgrimage by Metropolitan Alexander, along with archpastors and clergy from Kazakhstan.

Support for the bringing of the holy relic is provided by the public foundation “Apostle” (President – G.G. Sosnovsky).

More than 13,000 people have venerated the relics of the servant of Christ.
