October 17, 2024. Pavlodar. The relics of the holy blessed eldress Matrona of Moscow, visiting Kazakhstan with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, have arrived in the Pavlodar Diocese.
The holy relics were brought by Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan. The pilgrimage is supported by the public foundation “Apostle,” headed by President G.G. Sosnovsky.
The visit is timed to coincide with significant anniversaries: the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Astana and Almaty Diocese and the upcoming 15th anniversary of the canonical status of the Metropolis.
At the airport, the Head of the Metropolis and the accompanying delegation were met by Archbishop Barnabas of Pavlodar and Ekibastuz and the Head of the Department for Religious Affairs of Pavlodar Region, B.M. Kappasov.
From the airport, the reliquary with the relics of Blessed Matrona was transported to the Annunciation Cathedral.
Under the chanting of the troparion to the righteous one, “God-Inspired Blessed Eldress Matrona,” the relics were brought into the main church of the Pavlodar Diocese and placed in the center of the cathedral, after which the Divine Liturgy, led by Metropolitan Alexander, commenced.
The holy relics will remain in the Pavlodar Diocese from October 17 to October 18.
