October 20, 2024. The stay of the relics of Blessed Matrona of Moscow in the Pavlodar Diocese has come to an end.
From September 28 to November 10, 2024, with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, the great relic – the relics and part of the vestment of Blessed Matrona of Moscow, venerated by millions of Orthodox believers worldwide – has been visiting the borders of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District.
On October 17, the relic was brought to the main church of the Pavlodar Diocese, the Annunciation Cathedral, where the Head of the Metropolitan District, in concelebration with the diocesan clergy, celebrated the Divine Liturgy.
Due to numerous requests from the faithful, the church leadership decided to extend the stay of Blessed Matrona’s relics in the capital of the Irtysh region until October 20.
The bringing of this venerated relic of Orthodoxy to the city of Pavlodar was a spiritual gift to the faithful on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Astana and Almaty Diocese and the forthcoming 15th anniversary of the canonical status of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District.
In response to the petition of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, His Holiness gave his Primate’s blessing for the relics of Blessed Matrona to be brought to diocesan centers for prayerful veneration and spiritual strengthening of the people of Kazakhstan. The relic is accompanied on its pilgrimage by Metropolitan Alexander and other bishops and clergy of Kazakhstan.
Support for bringing the relic is provided by the “Apostle” public foundation (president – G.G. Sosnovsky).
More than 13,000 people venerated the relics of the holy servant of Christ.
