On November 6, 2024, during the celebration of the Icon of the Mother of God “Joy of All Who Sorrow,” with the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, Bishop Klavdian of Taldykorgan, Vicar of the Astana Diocese, celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Church of Sorrow in Almaty, marking its patronal feast day.
His Grace was concelebrated by the rector of the church, Protopriest Evgeny Vorobiev, Protopriest Sergey Desyatov, Protodeacon Nikolai Grinkevich, Protodeacon Vladimir Syrovatsky, and Deacon Ilya Vorobiev.
The hymns were sung by the choir of the Church of Sorrow under the direction of O. Solomonova.
The hierarch offered prayers for the increase of love and the eradication of all hatred and malice.
At the conclusion of the Liturgy, a glorification of the Most Holy Theotokos took place — the clergy and choir performed the troparion of the feast, the chants “Most Holy Theotokos, save us!”, the prayer “Under Thy Protection,” and the magnification of the Queen of Heaven.
Bishop Klavdian addressed the rector, the concelebrating clergy, and the parishioners with words of congratulations on the patronal feast of the church and delivered a sermon.
