November 9, 2024. Ust-Kamenogorsk. The relics of Saint Blessed Matrona of Moscow, visiting Kazakhstan with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, have arrived in the capital of the “Ore Altai.”
The sacred relics were brought by Bishop Klavdian of Taldykorgan, a vicar of the Astana Diocese.
Support for bringing the relics is provided by the “Apostle” Public Fund.
The visit is dedicated to significant historical dates—the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Astana and Almaty Diocese and the upcoming 15th anniversary of the canonical status of the Metropolitan District.
The reliquary containing the relics of Blessed Matrona was transported from the airport to the St. Andrew’s Cathedral, where it was greeted by clergy and a large gathering of faithful led by Archbishop Amphilochius of Ust-Kamenogorsk and Semipalatinsk.
To the singing of the troparion to the righteous Matrona, “God-enlightened Blessed Matrona,” the relics were carried into the cathedral and placed at the center of the church, after which the vigil service, led by the head of the Ust-Kamenogorsk Diocese, began.
At the conclusion of the service, Archbishop Amphilochius congratulated those present on the significant event of the arrival of Blessed Matrona’s relics in the capital of the “Ore Altai.”
Thereafter, the faithful began venerating the relics. During the entire period of the relics’ presence in the main church of the Ust-Kamenogorsk Diocese, molebens with akathists to the saint will be held.
The sacred relics will remain in the capital of the “Ore Altai” from November 9 to November 12.
