On August 31, 2024, the Head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, began his visit to the Aktobe Diocese of the Metropolis.
His Eminence is accompanied on this trip by the Vicar of the Astana Diocese, Bishop Klavdian of Taldykorgan; the Rector of the Church of the Icon of the Mother of God "Joy of All Who Sorrow" in Almaty, Archpriest Evgeny Vorobyov; the head of the Metropolitan's Secretariat, Hieromonk Prokhor (Endovitsky); the head of protocol service, Protodeacon Roman Golovin; and Protodeacon Vladimir Syrovatsky.
At the airport in the city of Aktobe (Aktubinsk), the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan was greeted by Bishop Ignaty of Aktobe and Kyzylorda, Acting Dean of the Aktobe Church District Hieromonk Kiprian (Dakhno), and the diocesan clergy.
At the request of the faithful, the Head of the Metropolis brought to the Aktobe Diocese the holy relic—a precise "measure for measure" copy of the miraculous icon of the Mother of God "Healer," which was blessed during the visit of the ancient icon to Kazakhstan in May of this year.
As part of the visit, on Sunday, September 1, Metropolitan Alexander will lead the Divine Liturgy at the St. Nicholas Cathedral in Aktobe (beginning at 9:00 AM).
Metropolitan Alexander will also hold working meetings with Bishop Ignaty of Aktobe and Kyzylorda, visit churches, engage with clergy and believers, and meet with regional leadership and the public of Aktobe.
