November 27, 2024. The visit of the relics of Blessed Matrona of Moscow to the Shymkent Diocese has come to an end.
In response to the petition of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, His Holiness granted his Patriarchal blessing for the relics of Blessed Matrona to be brought to diocesan centers for veneration and the spiritual edification of the faithful in Kazakhstan.
The sacred relics were brought by the Vicar of the Astana Diocese, Bishop Benjamin of Talgar.
On November 20, the feast day of the Synaxis of the New Martyrs and Confessors of Shymkent, the relics were placed in the St. Nicholas Cathedral, where the festive Divine Liturgy was celebrated by the ruling bishop of the diocese.
On November 24, the 22nd Sunday after Pentecost, the relics were transferred to the Dormition Cathedral in the city of Taraz. There, Bishop Chrisanthus of Shymkent and Turkestan, co-served by Bishop Benjamin of Talgar and the clergy of the diocese, celebrated the Divine Liturgy.
Throughout the entire period of the relics’ presence in the churches of the Shymkent Diocese, moliebens with the Akathist Hymn to Blessed Matrona were conducted.
The public foundation «Apostle»provided significant support for the hosting of the sacred relics.
More than 10,000 faithful venerated the holy relics during their stay.
