December 1, 2024 – The 23rd Sunday after Pentecost, the commemoration day of Martyr Platon of Ankara.
Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Church of the Holy Martyrs Vera, Nadezhda, Lyubov, and their mother Sophia, located at the Patriarchal Compound in Moscow – the Representation of the Metropolitan District of the Russian Orthodox Church in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The Head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan was assisted by: Hieromonk Antoniy (Drobyazko), keyholder of the Church of the Holy Martyrs Vera, Nadezhda, Lyubov, and Sophia; Igumen Agafangel (Gagua), Vice-Rector of the Almaty Theological Seminary, Candidate of Theology, Doctor of Medical Sciences, and Professor; Protopriest Oleg Kalmykov, Rector of the Church of St. John of Kronstadt in Lisakovsk; Hieromonk Viktorin (Aseev); Protodeacon Sergey Kulikov; Deacons Anatoly Ledenev and Roman Frolov.
The service was attended by: O.N. Ovchinnikov, Secretary of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District, Honored Cultural Worker of Russia, and member of the Patriarchal Council for the Development of Russian Church Singing; N.V. Parshikova, Deputy Head of the Secretariat of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation; T.V. Zubkova, Head of the Educational Projects Department of Rossotrudnichestvo; Staff of the Representation of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District, parishioners of the church, pilgrims, teachers, and students of the Sunday School.
The church choir, directed by Anna Rozhnova, performed the liturgical hymns.
At the conclusion of the service, the Metropolitan addressed the faithful with a pastoral teaching.
Following the Divine Liturgy, Metropolitan Alexander conducted a memorial litany for his late father, Gennady Fyodorovich (on the anniversary of his passing), and for all Orthodox Christians who have departed this life from all ages to the present day.
