On January 8, 2025, with the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, children’s celebrations—the Christmas Metropolitan Christmas Trees—were held at the Spiritual and Cultural Center of the Metropolitan District of Kazakhstan, named after the Equal-to-the-Apostles Cyril and Methodius, in the city of Astana.
More than 700 children participated in the festive events.
The Metropolitan Christmas Trees were opened with welcoming words and congratulations by Bishop Gennady of Kaskelen, Chancellor of the Metropolitan District of Kazakhstan, and Protopriest Dmitry Baydek, key-holder of the Dormition Cathedral in the capital.
A festive atmosphere for children and adults was created by professional artists who presented a Christmas theatrical performance and organized a variety of memorable contests and games.
At the end of the festive performance, each young guest received a sweet gift from the Head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan.
