The creative competition is held with the support of the Synodal Liturgical Commission and the Church and Public Council under the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia for the Development of Russian Church Singing.
The event is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the repose of St. Tikhon, Patriarch of All Russia.
The Olympiad aims to foster interest in church music and to assess knowledge in key areas of church music ministry: liturgical rubrics, types of liturgical chants, principal hymnographic texts of the liturgical year, interpretations of complex Church Slavonic expressions, and the basics of bell ringing.
Eligible participants include students of Sunday schools, Orthodox gymnasiums, children’s church choirs, choir director courses, and theological schools. The Olympiad is held in two age categories:
Children: ages 9–14 Youth: ages 15–20
The competition will be conducted remotely — either on the premises of educational institutions (such as church music schools, Sunday schools, etc.) or individually.
