26 December 2025. Almaty. By the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, the final class of the first semester of the 2025–2026 academic year was held at the evening theological courses for laypeople at the Central Sunday School of St Nicholas Cathedral.
The event was led by the Managing Director of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan, Bishop Gennady of Kaskelen.
Those present at the meeting included the director of the Central Sunday School G.V. Cherepanova, and the instructors Hierodeacon Athanasius (Kozel), E.V. Zavgorodnyaya, L.V. Prosvirova, and L.Z. Alexandrovich.
The hierarch delivered a lecture entitled «Theology and Philosophy», during which he spoke about the main ideas of ancient philosophy formulated by Plato, Aristotle, and other thinkers. The bishop outlined the influence of the ancient philosophical heritage on the formation of European and Christian culture, and also described its significance for the development of theological thought.
After the lecture, His Grace answered questions from the audience, congratulated those present on the approaching feast of the Nativity of Christ, and wished the listeners to continue their studies with undiminished zeal.
At the conclusion of the event, a group photograph was taken.
