On January 24, 2026, a meeting of the Academic Council was held at the Almaty Orthodox Theological Seminary under the chairmanship of the Rector of the seminary, Candidate of Theology, Archpriest Evgeny Ivanov.
The participants of the meeting included: Vice-Rector for Educational Work, Priest Ioann Livinsky; Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Priest Petr Bakhtiyarov; Vice-Rector for Research, Candidate of Philosophical Sciences A. P. Solovyov; Head of the Biblical and Theological Department, Candidate of Theology, Priest Oleg Lisin; Head of the Church-Practical Department, Candidate of Theology, Priest Vladislav Pashkov; Head of the Correspondence Department, Priest Daniil Bobylev; and Head of the Seminary Office, Priest Alexander Shishlov.
At the beginning of the meeting, Archpriest Evgeny addressed the faculty with a welcoming speech, congratulating those present on the beginning of the second semester of the 2025–2026 academic year. He then announced the agenda of the session.
Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Priest Petr Bakhtiyarov, outlined the dates for the final summer examination session and the defense of graduation theses, and also announced the date of the solemn commencement ceremony.
Following this, Vice-Rector for Educational Work, Priest Ioann Livinsky, delivered a report presenting the key directions of educational activity planned for the second semester.
During the meeting, the heads of departments reported on the activities of their academic units during the first semester.
The main topic of the Academic Council meeting was the seminary’s preparation for the upcoming inspection by the Education Committee of the Russian Orthodox Church. Special attention was given to the development of the academic process and scientific work.
