Museum Collection of the Memorial House of Metropolitan Joseph (Chernov) Enriched with a New Exhibit

January 28, 2026 – Almaty. The collection of the memorial house-museum of the ever-memorable Metropolitan Joseph (Chernov) of Almaty and Kazakhstan, being established in the city of Almaty with the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, continues to grow with new exhibits.

A gramophone from the early 20th century and a set of records that belonged to the elder and saintly hierarch were recently added to the museum of this confessor of the Faith and ascetic of piety, who is deeply venerated by the faithful. The sacred items had been preserved by Archbishop Amphilochius of Ust-Kamenogorsk and Semipalatinsk, Chairman of the Commission for Culture of the Orthodox Church in Kazakhstan.

The historical building of the memorial house, which now houses the museum of Metropolitan Joseph (Chernov) by the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, is located on Ashimbaev Street in Almaty, near the Iveron–Seraphim Monastery. In the 1960s and 1970s, this one-story house served as the office of the Almaty Diocesan Administration, where the ever-memorable saintly elder lived and labored.

The museum serves not only as a monument to the life and ministry of Saint Joseph, but also as an important center for the study and preservation of the spiritual legacy of this righteous archpastor.
