Children’s Paschal Matinee Held at the Central Sunday School of the Southern Capital

April 18, 2026. Almaty. With the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, a children’s Paschal matinee was held in the assembly hall of St. Nicholas Cathedral following the Divine Liturgy.

The event was organized specifically for pupils of the junior group of the Central Sunday School.

The matinee was prepared by music teacher L.Z. Aleksandrovich. The celebration was attended by teachers – Hierodeacon Afanasy (Kozel), Deacon Vladimir Alferov, V.N. Popov, L.V. Prosvirova, E.V. Zavgorodnyaya, as well as parents and students of the school.

Before the beginning of the event, the director of the Central Sunday School, G.V. Cherepanova, congratulated those present on the Bright Resurrection of Christ.

During the Paschal celebration, the children recited poems, performed songs, staged theatrical scenes, took part in round dances, and participated in various thematic games.

As part of the program, a visit to the bell tower of St. Nicholas Cathedral was organized, where all who wished could take part in Paschal bell ringing.

At the conclusion of the event, gifts were presented to the young performers, after which a tea reception took place.
