Personal Belongings of St. Nicholas (Mogilevsky), Metropolitan and Confessor, Donated to the Church History Museum of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District

August 31, 2026. Alma-Ata. At the Metropolitan Joseph (Chernov) Spiritual, Cultural and Administrative Center of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan held a working meeting with Abbess Lyubov (Yakushkina), Superior of the Iveron-St. Seraphim Convent in the Southern Capital.

The meeting was attended by: O.N. Ovchinnikov, Secretary of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District, Honored Worker of Kazakhstan and Honored Art Worker of the Russian Federation; Archpriest Evgeny Ivanov, Rector of the Alma-Ata Theological Seminary and Head of the Metropolitan District’s Information and Publishing Department; Hieromonk Dimitry (Baidek), Personal Secretary to the Head of the Metropolitan District; Hieromonk Prokhor (Endovitsky), Head of the Metropolitan’s Secretariat; and Priest Georgy Sidorov, Head of the Administrative Secretariat of the Head of the Metropolitan District.

Mother Abbess presented the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan with two sets of prayer beads, a beaded embroidered case, and an episcopal comb that had belonged to St. Nicholas (Mogilevsky), Metropolitan of Alma-Ata and Kazakhstan and Confessor.

The hierarch gratefully accepted the donated items and noted that they would take their rightful place in the house museum of Metropolitan Nicholas, which is currently being established in Alma-Ata with the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan.

His Eminence particularly noted the labors of the Superior of the Iveron-St. Seraphim Convent in preserving the Church’s historical heritage associated with the names of two outstanding hierarchs of Kazakhstan – Metropolitan Nicholas (Mogilevsky) and Metropolitan Joseph (Chernov). The Head of the Metropolitan District wished Mother Abbess good health of soul and body and God’s assistance in her monastic labors and the fulfillment of her Church obediences.
