Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan visited the Minsk Theological Seminary

On August 5, 2024, a delegation from the Metropolitan District of Kazakhstan, led by Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, visited the Assumption Zhyrovichy Monastery and the Minsk Theological Seminary.

The visit began with the Divine Liturgy in the Assumption Cathedral of the monastery.

Participating in the service were: Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, Archbishop Guriy of Novogrudok and Slonim, Archbishop Amphilochius of Ust-Kamenogorsk and Semipalatinsk, Bishop Auxentius of Nesvizh, Archimandrite Nikodim Generalov, Rector of the Minsk Theological Seminary Protopriest Viktor Vasilevich, Acting Rector of the Almaty Orthodox Theological Seminary Protopriest Evgeny Ivanov, the cathedral clergy, and staff members of the departments and commissions of the Metropolitan District led by O.N. Ovchinnikov, Honored Artist of Russia.

After the Liturgy, the guests visited the Minsk Theological Seminary, where they familiarized themselves with the educational process, scientific and educational work, and the activities of the seminary's museum. The tour was conducted by the Rector, Protopriest Viktor Vasilevich. Metropolitan Alexander noted the high level of academic preparation and the material and technical resources of the seminary. For his efforts in the spiritual and moral education of the younger generation, the archpastor awarded Father Viktor the Order of Archbishop Sophonius (Sokolsky), the first hierarch of the Turkestan Diocese and Apostle of the Seven Rivers region.

Next, a prayer service was held in the Assumption Cathedral, after which the Head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan presented Archbishop Guriy with the Order of the Holy Martyr Pimen, Bishop of Verny and Semirechye. The hierarch was awarded this high honor in recognition of his efforts in developing relations between the Minsk Diocese and the Metropolitan District.

At the brotherly cemetery of the Assumption Zhyrovichy Monastery, Metropolitan Alexander served a memorial service at the grave of the ever-memorable first Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus, Metropolitan Philaret (Vakhromeev).

After the tour of the monastery, the Metropolitan gave an interview to the video project "The Gospel in the Modern World."
