On November 22, 2024, with the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, the International Scientific Conference “The XXII Almaty Orthodox Educational Lectures in Memory of Saint Sophronius (Sokolsky), Archbishop of Turkestan, Enlightener of Semirechye” will be held in the throne room of the spiritual, cultural, and administrative center named after Metropolitan Joseph (Chernov).
This scientific forum is a continuation of the “Philaret Readings.” The corresponding decision was made by the Academic Council of the Almaty Orthodox Theological Seminary.
The spiritual and educational event of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District will be held as part of the regional phase of the XXXIII International Christmas Educational Conferences, in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Astana and Almaty Diocese and the 15th anniversary of the canonical status of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District.
The theme of the conference is “The 80th Anniversary of the Great Victory: Memory and Spiritual Experience of Generations.”
The organizer of the scientific forum is the Almaty Orthodox Theological Seminary.
The conference will be attended by rectors and teachers of theological educational institutions of the Russian Orthodox Church, as well as specialists in church history and theological disciplines.
