During the Meeting, the Akim of the West Kazakhstan Region Expressed Condolences to Metropolitan Alexander on the Passing of Archbishop Anthony (Moskalenko)

April 25, 2025. Uralsk.

At the Diocesan Administration, a meeting took place between Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan and the Akim of the West Kazakhstan Region, Nariman Turegalievich Turegaliev.

Participating in the meeting were: on the part of the Orthodox Church – Bishop Vianor of Uralsk and Atyrau, and the Head of the Administrative Secretariat of the Head of the Metropolis, Priest George Sidorov; on the part of the secular authorities – Deputy Akim of the West Kazakhstan Region K.E. Mendigaliyev, Head of the Department for Religious Affairs of the West Kazakhstan Region A.A. Karatay, and former Head of the Department for Religious Affairs T.R. Nyghmetov.

The Akim expressed his condolences to the Head of the Metropolis on the passing of Archbishop Anthony (Moskalenko):

“Sharing the sorrow over the passing of Archbishop Anthony, who led the Uralsk Diocese for more than 30 years, I extend my sincere condolences to his relatives and to the entire Orthodox community on behalf of the residents of the region and personally from myself. The departure of Archbishop Anthony is a significant loss for the region.”

“His many years of service were devoted to strengthening universal human values in society and developing cooperation with public institutions and representatives of various confessions. His high authority, personal integrity, ability to conduct dialogue and unite people of different views earned him sincere respect and recognition. The bright memory of Archbishop Anthony will forever remain in the history of West Kazakhstan as a man who devoted his life to serving people,” Nariman Turegalievich particularly noted.

Metropolitan Alexander informed the regional leader about the date and time of the late hierarch’s funeral.

Metropolitan Alexander, Bishop Vianor, and Nariman Turegaliev discussed several current issues concerning the cooperation between the Uralsk Diocese of the Metropolis of Kazakhstan and the administration of the West Kazakhstan Region.
