30 July 2025. Village of Akmol (Malinovka), Tselinograd District, Akmola Region. Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan visited the church in honor of the Twelve New Martyrs who suffered for Christ in the Akmola Camp for Wives of Traitors to the Motherland – ALZHIR. The archpastor was accompanied by Archimandrite Sergy (Karamyshev), dean of the Astana church district, and assistant I.E. Yatsenko.
As part of preparations for the visit to Kazakhstan of the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’, which will take place in September of this year, the Head of the Metropolitan District held a working meeting with representatives of the state authorities.
The meeting was attended by: Deputy Speaker of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Z.K. Asanov, Senator from Akmola Region N.Zh. Bekenov, Head of the Department for Religious Affairs of Akmola Region B.N. Kasenov, Akim of Tselinograd District of Akmola Region D.S. Sabyrgali, representatives of the district and rural akimats and law enforcement agencies, as well as the rector of the Church of the Akmola New Martyrs, Priest Sergy Lubnevsky.
The participants of the meeting visited the church, after which they discussed matters concerning the improvement of the territory adjacent to the church, the repair of the road surface, and the organization of a parking area. A parking layout plan was presented during the meeting, and a set of measures was developed for the successful implementation of the assigned tasks.
Metropolitan Alexander thanked the parliamentarians and representatives of the executive authorities for their attentive attitude toward the life of the memorial church, erected in glorification of the exploits and martyric deaths of the New Martyrs who suffered for Christ in the Akmola Camp for Wives of Traitors to the Motherland – ALZHIR, as well as in memory of all the innocently slain on this land during the years of repression.
