April 23, 2026. Astana. A delegation of the Government of Perm Krai, headed by Governor D.N. Makhonin, visited the construction site of a church architectural complex, which includes the Cathedral in honor of All Saints Who Shone Forth in the Land of Kazakhstan, the Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh, and the spiritual, cultural, and educational center of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District.
This project, the realization of which is awaited by many faithful, has received the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’. During a meeting between Metropolitan Alexander and the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, K.-J.K. Tokayev, the Head of State became acquainted with the project and supported the idea of creating an Orthodox educational center in the capital along with a church attached to it. By order of the President of Kazakhstan, a land plot was allocated by the city authorities and assigned to the Metropolitan District. At present, construction is actively underway, funded by benefactors.
The guest, who is in Kazakhstan on an official visit, was received by Archimandrite Sergius (Karamyshev), dean of the parishes of Astana; Priest Sergius Dianov, assistant to the dean; and Priest Nikolai Goryachev.
Archimandrite Sergius conducted a tour of the construction site for Dmitry Nikolaevich, speaking in detail about the progress of the works, the architectural features of the future buildings, and the significance of the project for the spiritual life of Orthodox believers in the Republic. The dean noted that on September 18, 2025, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, during his Primatial visit to Kazakhstan, consecrated the Church of St. Sergius, which forms part of the architectural complex.
As a remembrance of the meeting, members of the delegation planted trees on the territory of the church.
At the conclusion of the meeting, which took place in a warm atmosphere, the parties exchanged good wishes and commemorative gifts.
