April 25, 2026. Uralsk. Following the Divine Liturgy in the Feodorovsky Church of the Intercession Convent, a meeting took place between Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan and the Consul General of the Russian Federation in Uralsk, A.V. Gruby.
The meeting was attended by Archbishop Amfilokhiy of Ust-Kamenogorsk and Semipalatinsk; Bishop Klavdian of Taldykorgan, vicar of the Astana Diocese; and Bishop Vianor of Uralsk and Atyrau.
Metropolitan Alexander and Alexey Valentinovich exchanged Paschal greetings and congratulations on the feast of the Bright Resurrection of Christ.
The Head of the Metropolitan District informed the guest about the spiritual celebrations held in the “mining capital” on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the repose of Venerable Confessor Sebastian of Karaganda – the last Optina elder and the heavenly patron of Kazakhstan.
Alexey Valentinovich told the hierarchs about the activities of the Consulate General in Uralsk, as well as the goals and objectives facing the diplomatic mission he heads.
The parties exchanged views on the preparations for the celebration of historically and spiritually significant dates – the 275th anniversary of the consecration of the Archangel Michael Cathedral and the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the Ural Diocese of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District.
The Metropolitan shared with Alexey Valentinovich information about the upcoming celebration marking the 80th anniversary of the return of St. Nicholas Cathedral in Almaty to the Orthodox Church. According to the archpastor, the celebration will take place in the Southern capital during the Paschal period, on May 10, with the participation of hierarchs of Kazakhstan and visiting hierarchs from Russia and the CIS countries.
The participants of the meeting exchanged mutual wishes of health, peace, and success in their labors.
