On August 7, 2024, in Minsk, at the invitation of Metropolitan Benjamin of Minsk and Zaslavl, Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus, a delegation from the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan, led by Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan and with the participation of Timur Mekeshevich Zhaksilykov, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Belarus, visited the Holy Spirit Cathedral.
The guests, accompanied by Metropolitan Benjamin, learned about the history of the cathedral and had the opportunity to venerate the holy relics kept there.
Before the miraculous Minsk Icon of the Mother of God, the Head of the Metropolitan District offered fervent prayers for the archpastors, pastors, monastics, and laity of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan, for peace and well-being in the land of Kazakhstan, and for the President, authorities, military, and people of the Republic.
Following this, a meeting between the hierarchs and the head of the Kazakh diplomatic mission took place in the Patriarchal Exarch's quarters.
The participants of the meeting positively assessed the dynamic development of Kazakh-Belarusian relations and noted the high intensity of various joint state and public events.
They exchanged views on a wide range of issues concerning the importance of traditional religions in contemporary society.
Metropolitan Alexander emphasized that today, in the multiethnic and multiconfessional Kazakhstan, thanks to the policies of the country's leadership, headed by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, civil stability and peace are maintained. The church hierarchy, clergy, and faithful of the Metropolitan District support the initiatives of the state authorities aimed at preserving moral values and overcoming the extremist and terrorist threats posed by destructive pseudo-religious movements.
At the end of the conversation, the participants exchanged wishes for health and success in their labors.
The meeting took place in a warm atmosphere.
