The “Stroller Parade” Was Held in the Southern Capital in Honor of International Children’s Day

June 1, 2025. Alma-Ata. With the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, the “Stroller Parade” contest took place in the Park of the 28 Panfilov Guardsmen, in front of the Ascension Cathedral, in celebration of International Children’s Day.

Among the main goals of the event were – drawing public attention to the value of human life from the moment of conception, strengthening spiritual and moral values and the institution of the family, and supporting birth rates.

The event was organized by: the Public Relations Department of the Kazakhstan Mitropolitan District, the “You Are Needed by the World” movement, and the Orthodox Youth Movement of the Diocese of Alma-Ata.

Taking part in the celebration were: the sacristan of the Ascension Cathedral and head of the Mitropolitan District’s Public Relations Department, Protopriest Alexander Suvorov; Deputy Sacristan of the Ascension Cathedral, Priest Andrey Shklyar; families of parishioners from city churches; and residents and guests of the Southern Capital.

More than 100 people participated in the “Stroller Parade.”

Before the start of the celebration, Protopriest Alexander Suvorov addressed the attendees with a greeting. The sacristan of the main church of the Southern Capital congratulated everyone on International Children’s Day and emphasized the importance of preserving family values in modern society.

Afterward, a festive procession of participating families with decorated strollers was held around the cathedral.

For the young participants, master classes, games, creative contests, and themed entertainment were organized.

According to the results of the jury’s secret ballot, the winners of the contest were:

  • In the category “Most Eco-Friendly Stroller” – Vasilina Golubenko
  • In the category “Most Creative Stroller” – Olga Piskunova
  • n the category “Super Family” – Margarita Gromenko

At the conclusion of the event, the winners received gift certificates to “Detskiy Mir” stores, and all participants were awarded commemorative gifts.

The event was covered by the news agencies “Komsomolskaya Pravda,” “El.kz,” “Almalife,” as well as both secular and church-affiliated journalists.
