On June 26, 2025, with the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, the Chairman of the Society of Orthodox Physicians of Kazakhstan, Protopriest Anatoly Izmerov, took part in the Republican technical meeting on the topic: “Promoting Immunization through Cooperation with Religious Communities.”
The event was held at the School of Medicine of Nazarbayev University in the city of Astana.
The meeting was supported by the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the World Health Organization (WHO).
The forum brought together representatives of traditional confessions, scholars, representatives of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the World Health Organization, as well as students of the Nazarbayev University School of Medicine.
In his welcoming address, Father Anatoly emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between state institutions, the medical community, and religious organizations in raising public awareness on health protection, particularly in the field of infectious disease prevention. In particular, the clergyman noted that the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan supports efforts aimed at preserving human life and health, including immunization programs based on scientific and ethical principles.
The meeting served as an important platform for open dialogue, experience exchange, and the development of joint recommendations to improve immunization coverage across the country, especially among vulnerable and socially sensitive groups of the population.
The Society of Orthodox Physicians of Kazakhstan will continue its active participation in such initiatives, contributing to the development of healthcare and the strengthening of the spiritual and moral foundations of society.
