On 16 November 2025, with the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, a meeting of the “Union of Orthodox Women” (UOW) of the Southern Capital was held in the Throne Hall of the spiritual, cultural and administrative center of the Kazakhstan Metropolia named after Saint Joseph (Chernov).
The meeting was chaired by the Vicar of the Astana Diocese, Bishop Klavdian of Taldykorgan.
The participants included: Chair of the regional branch of the UOW N. Gaichenya, Director of the Central Sunday School G.V. Cherepanova, board members, and representatives of the “Union of Orthodox Women” of Almaty.
After a common prayer, Bishop Klavdian greeted those gathered and announced the agenda.
The central event of the meeting was the introduction of the new Chair of the regional branch of the UOW – Matushka Nadezhda Gaichenya.
The participants then viewed a video on the “International Declaration on the Protection of the Family,” which highlighted key areas of support for traditional family values.
During the meeting, issues concerning the further development of the activities of the “Union of Orthodox Women” in the Almaty Diocese were discussed; the agenda of the next meeting of the UOW board in the Southern Capital was formed and approved; and initiatives were considered for holding spiritual, educational and charitable events within the organization.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Bishop Klavdian thanked all those present for their active participation and wished them God’s help in their continued labors.
