20 November 2025. Astana. With the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, the sacristan of the Assumption Cathedral, Hieromonk Dimitry (Baidyek), took part in a scientific and practical conference dedicated to matters of population immunization.
The event took place at the School of Medicine of Nazarbayev University in Astana.
The meeting was held with the support of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the World Health Organization (WHO).
The forum gathered representatives of traditional confessions, scholars, representatives of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the World Health Organization, as well as students of the Nazarbayev University School of Medicine.
In his welcoming remarks, Father Dimitry underlined the importance of strengthening cooperation between governmental structures, the medical community, and religious organizations in educating the population on public health matters, especially regarding the prevention of infectious diseases. In particular, he noted that the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan supports efforts aimed at preserving human life and health, including immunization programmes founded on scientific and ethical principles.
The meeting became an important platform for open dialogue, exchange of experience, and formulation of joint recommendations to improve immunization coverage in the regions of the country, especially among vulnerable and socially sensitive groups of the population.
