March 12, 2025. Moscow. A meeting took place at the Patriarchal and Synodal Residence in Danilov Monastery between the Head of the Metropolitan District of Kazakhstan, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, and the Chancellor of the Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan Gregory of Voskresensk.
After exchanging greetings, Metropolitan Alexander informed Metropolitan Gregory about his meetings with State Counselor of the Republic of Kazakhstan Y.T. Karin, Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan A.G. Balaeva, and Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Russia D.A. Abaev.
The primary topic of discussion was the upcoming visit of the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’, to Kazakhstan. His Holiness is expected to arrive in the capital of the Republic at the invitation of the President of Kazakhstan, K.-J.K. Tokayev, to participate in the VIII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, which will be held on September 17–18 this year.
An exchange of views took place on a wide range of issues of mutual interest. The interlocutors discussed matters of church-state relations and interfaith dialogue in Kazakhstan. They also addressed the development of spiritual education and enlightenment within the Metropolitan District.
Metropolitan Alexander informed his counterpart about the presentation of the printed works of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, which took place in Almaty on the occasion of the 16th anniversary of his Primatial enthronement. The event was organized by the Publishing Department of the Metropolitan District of Kazakhstan and the Almaty Orthodox Theological Seminary.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the hierarchs wished each other health and God’s help in their ecclesiastical labors.
