The Holy Fire Descends at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem

April 19, 2025 — The Holy Land. On the Great and Holy Saturday, the Holy Fire descended at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem.

Thousands of pilgrims from various countries, including a delegation from the Metropolitan District of Kazakhstan, witnessed the miracle that has occurred for centuries on the eve of Holy Pascha at Christianity’s most sacred site — the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

The pilgrimage group of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan, who prayed at the biblical holy sites throughout Holy Week, will, with the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, bring lamps lit with the Holy Fire to our country.

In Almaty, the arrival of the Holy Fire will take place on the day of the Radiant Resurrection of Christ — April 20 — before the beginning of the Great Paschal Vespers, which will be celebrated by the Head of the Metropolitan District of Kazakhstan at the Ascension Cathedral.

The service will begin at 17:00.
