On the evening of September 18, 2025, the visit of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’ to the Republic of Kazakhstan came to an end.
At the airport of Astana, the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church was seen off by Maulen Ashimbayev, Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, Head of the Metropolis in the Republic of Kazakhstan; A.N. Borodavkin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Kazakhstan; and other officials.
During the conversation at the airport with the Speaker of the Senate of Kazakhstan, M.S. Ashimbayev, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill remarked:
“The main thing I would like to say is that here I feel myself among my own people: no false diplomacy, everything is quite open, because the people are close—by history, by mentality.”
“The most important thing is that the historical commonality that has developed between our peoples should be preserved. I believe that both Muslim and Orthodox clergy must take care of this, because when we are together, we are strong,” said His Holiness, thanking the leadership of Kazakhstan for the invitation, for the organization of the visit, and for the hospitality.
In turn, M.S. Ashimbayev noted that the visit of His Holiness is a momentous historical event.
“In my memory, all of this will remain as a truly important event in my life and in my pastoral ministry. I had the opportunity to visit remarkable places in your country, to pray with the Orthodox people, to communicate with the leadership of the country. I hope that the Lord will once again lead me to these wonderful lands,” said His Holiness Patriarch Kirill.
“We believe in this, we would like it, and, of course, we see in you, Your Holiness, a great friend of our country, a great friend of the Kazakh people, a great friend of the leadership of our country. We will always be glad to see you in our country,” concluded the Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
From Astana, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’ departed for Moscow.
