September 16, 2025. Astana. The XXIII session of the Secretariat of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions was held in the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation in the capital of Kazakhstan under the chairmanship of the Speaker of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, M.S. Ashimbaev.
By the blessing of the Head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, Bishop Gennady of Kaskelen, Chancellor of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District, took part in the work of the Secretariat.
The participants of the session included religious leaders of world and traditional religions – representatives of Islam, Christianity, Buddhism, Judaism, Hinduism, Taoism, and Shinto from 60 countries. The conference was also attended by: Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan A.G. Balaeva, parliamentarians, representatives of government bodies, as well as public and religious organizations from Kazakhstan and abroad.
Those gathered exchanged views on joint efforts to overcome modern challenges, discussed matters related to the upcoming events within the framework of the VIII Congress, including the Special Session on the Protection of Religious Sites, the II Forum of Young Religious Leaders, an expert round table, and the work of sections.
During the speeches, participants emphasized the importance of consolidating the efforts of all religious and international organizations to preserve peace, strengthen dialogue, and promote a culture of mutual respect.
As a result of the meeting, the protocol of the XXIII session of the Secretariat was adopted, and Goodwill Ambassadors of the VIII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions were elected.
