Representatives of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan Participate in the Meeting of the Club of Leaders of Religious Associations of Almaty

On July 1, 2026, a regular meeting of the Club of Leaders of Religious Associations was held in Almaty. The meeting was dedicated to the theme: “The Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan as the Foundation of Unity, Freedom of Conscience, and Social Harmony.”

The event was held to mark the entry into force of the new Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan and brought together representatives of government agencies, the Public Council of Almaty, the Department for Religious Affairs, the Department of Internal Policy, the Prosecutor’s Office, the City Maslikhat, as well as leaders and representatives of the city’s religious communities.

With the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan was represented by Archpriest Alexander Suvorov, Head of the Department for Public Relations, and Deacon Vitaly Bystrushkin, Deputy Head of the Department.

During the meeting, Archpriest Alexander Suvorov delivered a brief presentation entitled “The Responsibility of Civil and Religious Institutions for Preserving the Unity of the Country.” In his address, he emphasized the importance of the constitutional guarantees of freedom of conscience, the principle of the secular nature of the state, and the need to maintain a proper balance between cooperation between the state and religious organizations while respecting each other’s respective competencies and refraining from interference in one another’s internal affairs.

At the conclusion of the meeting, participants exchanged views on strengthening social harmony, developing cooperation between the state and religious communities, and preserving interreligious peace in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
