Agafia (Krapivnikova)

(1890 - 1937) – Nun, Venerable Martyr

Commemoration in the Assembly of New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia on the first Sunday starting from February 7 (January 25 O.S.).

She was born in 1890 in the village of Novosofoyino, Moscow Province.

Since 1911, she labored in monasticism, and in 1918, when the mass closure of monasteries began, she returned to her native village.

In 1931, she was arrested and exiled to Pavlodar for 3 years.

In 1937, she worked as a watchman in the Resurrection Church in Pavlodar and, along with other members of the community, provided material assistance to the exiles, for which she was arrested again on September 25, 1937. On the same day, Nun Maria (Portnova) was arrested, and two days earlier, Maria Antonovna Stefani and Alexandra Yakovlevna Lebedeva had been arrested. They were all charged with participating in "a counter-revolutionary organization of church members of the Pavlodar Resurrection Church community."

During interrogations, the arrested did not admit guilt and refused to give testimony. They were all sentenced to execution.

The place of burial is unknown.

They were rehabilitated on March 30, 1957.

Canonized at the Bishops' Council of the Russian Orthodox Church in 2000.
