Eva (Pavlova)

Born on July 10, 1879, in the village of Issa, Inzarsky Uyezd, Moscow Governorate, into a peasant family.

She was an Hegumenia in a monastery in the city of Penza, presumably the Holy Trinity Convent, which was closed in 1918, although services continued in its churches until 1931.

In 1929, she was arrested in the village of Balki, Rtishchevsky District, Balashovsky Okrug, Lower Volga Region, charged with "counter-revolutionary agitation." The Collegium of the OGPU sentenced her to 8 years of exile in Kazakhstan; she was released in 1932.

According to investigation records, she was the "Hegumenia of the Sretensky Monastery in Moscow," likely leading a community of nuns at the closed Sretensky Monastery.

In the mid-1930s, she moved to the city of Chimkent, where she organized a secret monastic community under the spiritual guidance of Metropolitan Joseph (Petrovykh).

On June 24, 1937, she was arrested along with a large group of exiled clergymen in Kazakhstan. She was accused of being the organizer of a secret monastery in Chimkent. She did not plead guilty to the charges of "systematic counter-revolutionary agitation, expressing defeatist sentiments, and expecting the restoration of a monarchist-bourgeois order."

On August 26, 1937, the Special Troika of the NKVD for the South Kazakhstan Region sentenced her to death.

She was glorified by the Jubilee Bishops' Council of the Russian Orthodox Church in 2000.
