Alexander Alexandrovich Serebrov

(1868 - 1937) – Protopriest, Hieromartyr

Commemoration on December 2 (November 19 old style), in the Assembly of New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia.

Born in 1868 in the village of Klyuchishchi, Buguruslansky District, Samara Province. He graduated from the Theological Seminary and served in the sacred ministry. from 1889. He resided in Ulyanovsk.

On June 24, 1937, Father Alexander was exiled to Kazakhstan for 5 years, where he worked at the May Mine in the Beskargai District of Pavlodar Region. On November 25, 1937, he was arrested along with other clergymen exiled to the May Mine and accused of counter-revolutionary agitation. On December 1 of the same year, all the arrested, except for Priest Nikolai Amassian, were sentenced and executed the next day.

At the Archpastoral Council of the Russian Orthodox Church in 2000, Protopriest Alexander Serebrov was glorified as one of the holy New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia of the 20th century.
