Valentin Alexandrovich Kornienko was born in 1873 in the city of Bobrinets, Elisavetgrad Uyezd, Kherson Governorate.
He was first arrested for "mediating for speculators."
In 1921, he was sentenced to 10 years in labor camps, but records of the sentence being carried out are missing. In 1930-1931, Valentin Alexandrovich lived in Moscow and was a member of the church council.
On April 18, 1937, he was exiled to Kazakhstan for 5 years on charges of counter-revolutionary activities and resided in the village of Maiskoye, Beskargai District, Pavlodar Region.
His second arrest occurred in exile on November 25, 1937. During interrogation, Valentin Alexandrovich denied the accusation of conducting "counter-revolutionary work" and did not incriminate others.
By the verdict of the NKVD troika of the East Kazakhstan Region on December 1, 1937, Martyr Valentin was executed by shooting and buried in a common, unmarked grave.
He was glorified by the Jubilee Bishops' Council of the Russian Orthodox Church in 2000.
