Vasily Timofeyevich Krasnov

(1886 - 1937) – Priest, Hieromartyr

Commemoration Day on November 20 (November 7, O.S.), in the Synaxis of the New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia.

Born in 1886 in the village of Kalinovka, Sergeyevsky District, Kuibyshev Region. Before the revolution, he served as a psalmist in the village of Pavlovka in the same district. From 1914 to 1918, he served in the Tsarist army. From September to November 1919, he served in the Red Army. He was ordained in 1921.

In October 1937, together with other participants in prayer meetings, Father Vasily was arrested and accused of "being part of a counter-revolutionary group... participating in illegal gatherings of this group, during which counter-revolutionary conversations took place, and voluntarily offering his premises (a caretaker's lodge) for these gatherings." The confessor, while not denying the fact of the prayer meetings, did not admit guilt to the charges brought against him. The arrested priests were executed by shooting by the decision of the NKVD troika of the Karaganda Region on November 20, 1937, and buried in a common unmarked grave.

He was glorified by the Jubilee Council of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church in 2000.
